Flames get quick win in home opener
OMAHA, Neb. – It feels good to be back home.
The College of Saint Mary volleyball team played its first home match of the season Saturday and showed the Flames' fans what all the excitement is about.
CSM entered the match with a perfect 11-0 record and extended that to 12-0 with a quick victory over Doane University. The Flames won 3-0 by scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-17.
With the win, CSM is now 2-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play and 12-0 overall. The Tigers fall to 0-3, 4-10.
"It was a great home opener," CSM Coach Rick Pruett said. "There was a lot of energy in the crowd and out on the floor."
Rachel Rosenquist (SO/Dakota Dunes, SD) led the Flames with 10 kills. Teammate Lexie Langley (JR/Fremont, Neb.) tallied nine kills, while Grace Werner (SO/Omaha, Neb.) had seven and both Makenna Freeman (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Kamryn Willman (SR/Grand Island, Neb.) finished with six.

"I thought we came out and played error-free volleyball," Pruett said. "We controlled the match from the first point. We served well, played great defense, only had 11 hitting errors and really just played a great all-around team game. Rachel played really, really well in the middle. But a lot of people contributed.
"We really kept Doane on the ropes."
CSM returns to action Wednesday at Mount Marty University in Yankton, S.D. Junior varsity starts at 6 p.m. and varsity plays at 7:30 p.m.
