YANKTON, S.D. – It felt good to finish with a win.

The College of Saint Mary basketball team closed out its season with a 58-45 victory over Mount Marty University Saturday in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.

"First of all, I want to thank our four seniors," CSM Coach Kirk Walker said. "I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for our program. It was great to see them all have great games again today.

"Defensively and offensively we came out with a ton of effort the first half," Walker said. "Our seniors led the way and we played off of their energy."

Clare Lewandowski (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) led the Flames with 14 points and nine rebounds. Kenzi Hoit (SR/Omaha, Neb.) scored 11, Madelyn Turner (SR/Bennington, Neb.) tossed in 10 and Bailey White (SR/Council Bluffs, Iowa) added seven. Kaylin Garza (FR/Belle Fourche, S.D.) pulled down eight rebounds.

"Kaylin had a season high in rebounds and I thought she did a great job on the boards," Walker said.

The Flames end with a 3-13 conference record and a 6-22 overall mark.

"Even though this season didn't quite end how we wanted it to in terms of wins and losses, this group of players has persevered and it makes me proud to have been able to coach this team this year," Walker said.
