MELBOURNE, Fla. (Mar. 19-20) -- The College of Saint Mary softball managed just two runs in four games at the Space Coast Spring Games, dropping four games to close out their Florida Trip.
UNOH 4, CSM 0 (Mar. 19)
Carlie Hanes struck out seven in a two-hit shutout for the University of Northwestern Ohio.
The Racers struck first with Eden Roberts coming home on a passed ball in the second and Holly Alvoid singling home a second run later in the frame.
Dani Keighley singled home another run in the fifth and Payton Albright provided an insurance tally with an RBI-triple in the sixth.
Shaylynn Campbell took the loss for the Flames, surrendering four runs on 12 hits and striking out three in 5.1 innings. Daisy Lowther worked 1.2 innings of relief without allowing a run.
Lowther and Sydney Griffin provided the hits for CSM.
SUNY Cobleskill 5, CSM 1 (Mar. 19)
Jaydaci Chamberlain allowed just an unearned run on four hits in a complete game effort for SUNY Cobleskill.
With just three combined hits through the first four innings, it appeared an old-fashioned pitching duel was in order. SUNY Cobleskill ended those thoughts as the Tigers broke through with a four-run fifth.
A pair of errors to open the inning put runners on the corners. Gianna Guido delivered a sac fly and Kailee DiGiacco tripled home a run before coming home herself on a bunt by Jaidin Wendt to chase Flame starter Megan Garcia from the circle. Kylie Rattigan singled in an additional run with two outs for a 4-0 lead.
Sydney Griffin doubled home Garcia in the sixth to put the Flames on the board but DiGiacco responded with an RBI-single in the home half to restore the four-run advantage.
Dallas Christian 5, CSM 1 (Mar. 20)
Nizhoni Yellow went the distance for Dallas Christian College allowing one unearned run on five hits.
College of Saint Mary struck first when Savannah Schewe reaching on an error to allow Paige Stuck to race home.
The Flames lead was short-lived as Jayla Stephens singled home Hanna Roye to tie things up for the Crusaders.
Neither team scored again until Felicitas Figueroa doubled home Allyse Leija in the fifth to put Dallas Christian on top.
Leija singled home a run in the sixth with a second scoring on a bobble in the outfield as the Crusaders stretched their lead to 4-1.
Mattee Frye chased in Alyssa Carreras with a sac fly for an insurance tally in the seventh.
Megan Garcia and Daisy Lowther each posted multi-hit games for the Flames.
Shaylynn Campbell worked a complete game in the circle for the Flames. She accounted for CSM's other base hit.
Fort Lauderdale 4, CSM 0 (Mar. 20)
Alexia Geary tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout as the University of Fort Lauderdale downed CSM 4-0.
The Eagles jumped on the Flames early, scoring three times in the first inning. Cecily Ozbun doubled home the game's first run before two later runs came around to score on a wild pitch.
With the score still 3-0 in the fifth, Geary aided her own cause with an RBI-double to score Alissia Vega who had reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the frame.
Sydney Griffin went 2-for-2 in the loss while pinch hitters Makenna Earnest and Victoria Placzek collected CSM's two other hits.
Megan Garcia allowed four runs on four hits in 4.1 before Shaylynn Campbell came on to pitch the final 1.2 innings scoreless.
The Flames (7-11) open their GPAC slate on Mar. 26 with a double-header at Concordia University with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
