Flames take 14th at Briar Cliff Invite

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. – The College of Saint Mary cross country team got an early glimpse of Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve at the Briar Cliff Invite Saturday.

The Flames took 14th at Saturday's event. But, even more importantly, it allowed the CSM ladies to get a look at the course where the GPAC Championships will take place next month.

"The conference meet is here so it was good to see a preview of the course," CSM Coach Derek Fey said. "I'm looking forward to seeing how we do against teams that beat us today in four weeks."

Dordt University won the team competition with 58 points, while University of Sioux Falls was second with 65 and Concordia University placed third with 73. The Flames finished with 340 team points.

Khot Juac from Sioux falls won the 6K race in 20:54.50.

Chloe Inhelder led the Flames with a time of 23:25.01 for 47th place individually.

Other times for CSM runners were: Lorena Ramirez 24:02.68; Brooke Wigdahl 24:30.99; Corinne Mead 24:50.92; Mira Fosmer 25:04.07; Yenifer Juan 25:11.20; Kiley Craft 25:11.78; Autumn Simons 25:15.42; Jocelyn Farhar 25:40.98; Natalie Briggs 26:22.45; Madeline Krause 26:28.25; Peyton Bell 26:41.13; Alivia Austin 28:48.65.

"We didn't have the best starting position and found ourselves buried in the back right from the gun – so that was rough," Fey said. "But I was pleased with how we moved up."

The Flames are back in action Oct. 21 when they co-host the Blazing Tiger Invite.
