Fey: CSM runners have best performance in program history

LINCOLN, Neb. – Derek Fey called it the best team performance in College of Saint Mary cross country history.

The Flames took 10th place out of 20 teams at the Woody Greeno Invite Saturday.

"That was the best overall team performance we've had in our program's history," Fey said. "We beat Nebraska Wesleyan – which is a team we have never beaten before. It was a fantastic day for the group."

The Flames finished with 342 team points.

Winona State University won the meet with 22 points, while University of Saint Mary (Kan.) was second with 55 and University of Nebraska at Kearney was third with 109.

Lindsay Cunningham from Winona State had the best 5,000m time with 16:07.16.

Chloe Inhelder led the Flames with a time of 19:42.29 for 60th place individually.

"We had a plan to move after the mile mark and we executed it perfectly," Fey said. "The :58 pack time was phenomenal."

The Flames return to competition Friday at the Roy Griak Invite in Minnesota.
