OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary is pleased to announce that Jazmin Alexandria Garcia-Alvarez has signed to continue her volleyball career with the school in the 2026-27 academic year.
The daughter of Luis and Ana Garcia, she is a senior at Omaha South High School.
CSM Coach Rick Pruett said Garcia-Alvarez will be an outstanding addition to the program.
"We are excited to announce the signing of Jazmin,'' he said. "She is a great young lady who was the leader of her South High School team. She is a dynamic athlete who we are excited about. We are looking forward to watching her growth here at CSM.''
In addition to volleyball, Garcia-Alvarez also has competed in powerlifting and track and field at South. On the volleyball court, she was a two-time team MVP for her high school and an honorable mention All-Metro Conference selection.
Her greatest sports moments have been beating rival Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson during the high school season and winning a national championship with her club team.
In her spare time, Garcia-Alvarez enjoys reading, drawing and arts and crafts projects.
"She is a hard worker and has a great personality that will fit right in with our CSM culture!'' Pruett said.
Garcia-Alvarez said CSM offered the right combination of athletics and academics.
"I really wanted to find a college where I could continue my volleyball career while also pursing my major,'' she said. "CSM offered both. It also had such a welcoming environment that I immediately felt excited to become a part of it.''
