Flames get quick win over Briar Cliff
OMAHA, Neb. – The College of Saint Mary volleyball team got a quick 3-0 win over Briar Cliff University Friday night.
The Flames won the Great Plains Athletic Conference contest by scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-14.
"Overall, we played pretty good volleyball tonight," CSM Coach Rick Pruett said. "It was a good team effort. We've had to really grind the last couple of weeks with injuries and illness and this was a good win at home."
CSM had 45 kills in the match and held the Chargers to just 19.
Kamryn Willman and Grace Werner led the Flames with 10 kills each, while Lexie Langley chipped in with eight, Alex Radcliffe had seven and Mackenzie Vitosh added six. Lauren Anderson had a match-high 22 assists, while teammate Miranda Ring added 17. Defensively, Rachel Cushing tallied 15 digs and both Langley and Elen Pruett finished with eight.
"I thought the setters did a great job spreading the ball around," Pruett said. "Both Alex and Grace hit .333 and were two people who stepped up and played well when we needed them to."
The Flames improved to 6-3 in the GPAC and 17-4 overall. Briar Cliff dropped to 2-7, 7-16.
