Cushing named GPAC Defender of the Week
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players of the Week and CSM's Rachel Cushing has been named the defensive specialist.
Defender – Rachel Cushing, College of Saint Mary (Defensive Specialist)
College of Saint Mary defensive specialist Rachel Cushing is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender of the Week. Cushing, a senior from Council Bluffs, Iowa, had 82 total digs in four contests during the week. She averaged 5.13 digs per set for the Flames who went 4-0 last weekend.
Attacker – Gabi Nordaker, Concordia University (Middle)
Concordia's Gabi Nordaker is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker of the Week. Nordaker, a junior, from Omaha, Nebraska, accumulated 20 kills and three blocks on the week as Concordia defeated both Langston and No. 11 MidAmerica Nazarene in straight sets. On the season, Nordaker paces fourth-ranked Concordia in kills (28) and hitting percentage (.455).
Setter- Liv Reitsma, Northwestern College
Liv Reitsma of Northwestern is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter of the Week. Reitsma, a sophomore from Papillion, Nebraska, hit the 1,000-career assist mark and picked up a career-high nine service aces in a win against Langston. It was the second most in program history for service aces by an individual. The Raiders went 2-0 on the week, including a win over No. 11-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene in straight sets. Reitsma averaged 7.0 assists per set in the Red Raider's 6-2 look. She recorded over 20 assists in both matches which were sweeps.
