HASTINGS, Neb. – Seven wins in a row.
The College of Saint Mary volleyball team posted two more victories Saturday at the Hastings Classic to continue its hot streak. CSM defeated Dickinson State 3-1 in the first match by scores of 25-14, 25-16, 17-25 and 25-13. Then the Flames beat Bethel (Kan.) 3-1 by scores of 25-17, 26-24, 23-25 and 25-16.
Against Dickinson, Kamryn Willman led the Flames with 14 kills, while Morgan Ramsey had 11 and both Azaria Green and Grace Werner finished with seven. Setters Lauren Anderson and Miranda Ring tallied 30 and 12 assists, respectively. Rachel Cushing had 19 digs, Krissy Radicia added 12 and Lexie Langley finished with nine.
"Our middles carried the load for us that match as they both hit over .400," CSM Coach Rick Pruett said. "We let the third game get away from us as we didn't play with the same energy as we did in the sets we won. That's something we'll have to work on as well as shot selection and unforced errors."
Against Bethel, Green and Werner both tallied 13 kills, while Langley, Ramsey and Lauryn Willman each had eight. Anderson finished with 28 assists and Ring contributed 14. Cushing added a match-high 25 digs.
"Grace led the way and has really been our most consistent player," Pruett said. "She and Azaria led the way with 13 kills each while three other players had eight kills, which is a really balanced attack. That's what is so dangerous about us is that we have a lot of hitters that can get the job done."
The Flames are off until next weekend when they host the CSM Labor Day Classic in Sioux City, Iowa.
