Caspersen headed back to NAIA National Championships

OMAHA, Neb. – Been there, done that and back again.

College of Saint Mary junior Claire Caspersen is headed to the NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the third time in her career. She's also been to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships three times.

This year's event will be hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University and will occur in Marion, Ind., on May 22-24. Caspersen's event – the shot put – will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m. (EST).

Caspersen is currently seeded 11th out of 26 entries with her season-best throw of 14.20m. She posted that throw at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships.

And, while Caspersen has done this before, she's still looking forward to this year's opportunity. She has goals of improving on her fifth-place finish from last season.

"I'm excited," she said. "My goal is to become an All-American, have a PR and try to improve my placement into the top three."
