Rhodes, Caspersen named All-GPAC in outdoor T&F

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Honors for the 2022 Great Plains Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field season have been announced. Two College of Saint Mary track & field student-athletes were named All-GPAC.

The GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships were held at in Crete, Neb., and were hosted by Doane University. The top eight individuals in each event and top three relays are considered GPAC All-Conference.

CSM's Madalynn Rhodes (FR/Butte, Mont.) placed fourth in the javelin with a best throw of 38.65m/126-10 and teammate Claire Caspersen (FR/Cairo, Neb.) was fifth in the shot put with a best throw of 13.46m/44-02.

Other awards announced Thursday include performances of the meet, Coach of the Year and GPAC Athlete of the Year.

The Outstanding Performances of the Meet were voted on by the league coaches and are as follows:

Women's Track Performance – Jordan Koepke, Concordia – 400 Hurdles – 59.90 – GPAC Record
Women's Field Performance – Karson Sears, Hastings – High Jump – 6.05m – GPAC Record
Men's Track Performance – Zach Turner, Doane – 400 Hurdles – 51.92 – GPAC Record
Men's Field Performance – Dylan Kucera, Midland – Shot Put – 18.63m – GPAC Record

Lauren Tamayo from Hastings College and Seth Wiebelhaus from Mount Marty University were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Outstanding Athletes of the Year. Tamayo scored 32.5 points in the meet, while Wiebelhaus scored 22 points.

Matt Beisel from Concordia has been named the Jim McMahon/Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Women's Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the women's team title (216 points). Ed Fye from Doane was named the Fred Beile/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to the men's team title (182 points).
