Fosmer, Rodgers earn seconds at Prairie Wolf

LINCOLN, Neb. – College of Saint Mary turned in 11 top-eight indoor track performances on Friday in the Prairie Wolf Invite at the Devaney Sports Center.

"The overall theme of this week was executing the details to get the desired performances,'' CSM Coach Steve Gordon Jr. said. "We had 19 personal bests across all disciplines and every event group. That is remarkable growth that can only be seen when a young team starts to come into their own.''

Leading the way for the Flames were a pair of athletes who recorded runner-up finishes. Mira Fosmer placed second in the 600 (1:42.29), while Mikaiya Rodgers earned second in the long jump at 5.38 meters (17 feet, 8 inches).

Allison Isaacson grabbed third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.51 (34-5¾), while Chainey Thompson placed fifth in the same event at 9.95 (32-7¾) and Olivia Joyce was sixth at 9.43 (30-11¼).

The Flames turned in four other sixths: Kellesse Heard in the long jump (5.09, 16-8½), Kara Muller in the 3,000 (11:07.55), Olivia Elbert in the 800 (2:21.68) and Savannah Horne in the 200 (26.53).

Carly Henderson placed seventh in the 800 (2:22.01) and Muller added an eighth in the mile (5:24.2).

"The meet saw teams from NCAA Division I and as far away as Irvine, California, as well as high-performing unattached athletes,'' Gordon said. "It was a great atmosphere in a world-class venue, and we more than held our own.''
