Caspersen heads back to NAIA National Championships

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary thrower Claire Caspersen made the trek back to Brookings, S.D. today to compete in the upcoming NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

CSM Coach Jerrid Johansen and Assistant Coach Kevin Drwal joined Caspersen for this year's event, hosted by Dakota State University. The three-day meet will be held at Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

Caspersen will compete in the shot put on Saturday. She will be allowed practice time in the throwing ring Thursday and Friday.

This will be Caspersen's fifth time competing at nationals. The junior also qualified for both indoor and outdoor as a freshman and as a sophomore. She earned All-America status in three of her four trips with her highest finish coming at outdoor nationals last season, where she took fifth.

"I'm feeling confident but also nervous," Caspersen said. "I want to be an All-American again and keep that streak going. I also want to throw a PR."
