OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary is delighted to announce that Emily Walters has signed to continue her swimming career with the school in the 2026-27 academic year.

Walters is a 2024 graduate of Millard South High School and spent the last two years at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She is the daughter of Gabriel and Ann-Marie Walters.

"Emily is a huge swim talent with incredible work ethic and a positive attitude,'' CSM Coach Liz Germonprez said. "She'll have an immediate impact on relays and our sprint, IM and stroke training groups. Her top events all qualify for finals at the KCAC Championships.''

At Millard South, Walters participated in volleyball for three years and swimming for two. She also participated in Unified Track & Field, a Special Olympics initiative designed to promote social inclusion by pairing athletes with intellectual disabilities with partners who do not have disabilities.

She was a team captain of each sport in high school, making the podium at state swimming and setting a school record. She also went to state and earned a medal with her partner in Unified Track & Field.

Walters' sports hero is Olympic swimmer Caeleb Dressel, and her greatest sports moment was watching the American swimmers win the 4x100 free relay at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

"I get chills every time I watch,'' she said.

In her free time, Walters enjoys playing piano, pickleball, drawing, exercising and fishing. She chose the Flames because "my great grandmother went to CSM and it has a great OT (occupational therapy) program.''

Germonprez is excited to add Walters to the program, for many reasons.

"She's a versatile swimmer, a supportive teammate and an all-around massive gain for CSM swim!'' she said.
