Flames turn in more strong efforts at KCAC meet

HOBART, Ind. – College of Saint Mary turned in two more strong sessions on Friday at the KCAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the Hobart Aquatic Center.

"Our team came to race today!'' CSM Coach Liz Germonprez said.

The top Flames finish in the evening finals came in the 200 freestyle, where Kylee Brown swam a "hard-fought battle'' and placed third in a season-best 1:58.25, according to Germonprez. Isabella Promes swam a season-best 2:04.26 to move up a place to 14th in the same race.

In other finals, the 200 medley relay team of Jaidyn Vanschoiack, Brown, Hannah Ferguson and Isabella Promes took fifth in 1:52.75, getting an "amazing'' 26.7 butterfly split by Ferguson.

In the 400 IM, Ferguson placed fifth in a season-best 4:57.97, and Grace Biddle grabbed sixth in 5:01.30.

In the 100 backstroke, Vanschoiack took ninth in 1:02.32, Chloe Hale was 10th in a season-best 1:02.54, and Hannah Steinmetz ended 13th in a personal-best 1:04.53.

Juliet Balman took 16th in the butterfly in 1:06.83, "crushing her lifetime best by more than a second,'' Germonprez noted.
