Wright has record-breaking swim at nationals

COLUMBUS, Ga. – What a way to cap off a season!

College of Saint Mary junior Lily Wright broke a school record and took sixth place in the 200-yard breaststroke Saturday at the 2024 Women's Swimming & Diving National Championships.

Wright's time of 2:21.67 in the finals broke her own school record and earned her another podium finish at the biggest meet of the year. Wright swam a 2:24.18 in prelims.

"Lily's 200 breaststroke record and finals appearance was the perfect way to end the meet," CSM Interim Head Coach Eric Rees said.

"I am pleased with my final time this evening, that I outscored my points from last year as well as broke my record from last year," Wright said. "I am pretty satisfied and am excited for my senior year."

Freshman Kylee Brown also represented the Flames in all three days of the championship meet. Brown took 33rd in the 100 freestyle Saturday with a time of 54.80.

"This experience has been surreal," Brown said. "I have swum against some of the best in the country and have had a blast. I have high expectations for next year and am excited for what's to come."

"Both ladies had a fantastic meet," Rees said. "I am incredibly proud of how both ladies competed this week."

The 27 points Wright scored between her two Top 6 finishes helped the Flames take 20th in team competition.
