Wright makes the podium with 5th place finish at NAIA National Championships
COLUMBUS, Ga. – A Top 5 finish!
Lily Wright took fifth place in the 100 breaststroke Friday at the 2024 NAIA Women's Swimming & Diving National Championships.
Wright swam a time of 1:04.68 in the prelims Friday morning and entered the evening finals seeded fourth. Her time of 1:04.25 in the finals earned her a fifth-place finish on the podium.
"I am a little disappointed in the time, but am very proud of what I was able to accomplish this year and how I placed," Wright said.
"Lily is just incredible," CSM Interim Head Coach Eric Rees said. "Fifth in the nation is such a phenomenal accomplishment."
Teammate Kylee Brown also competed for the Flames Friday. She took 22nd in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.92.
"Kylee is competing incredibly well as a freshman," Rees said. "I am so proud of how these ladies are competing. We are excited for tomorrow."
Both ladies swim again Saturday. Wright will race in the 200 breaststroke and Brown will compete in the 100 freestyle.
