CSM swimmers wrap up competition in Augie Invite
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The College of Saint Mary swim team wrapped up competition in the Augie Invite Saturday by advancing more swimmers into the finals than any other day.
The Flames had four swimmers qualify for the finals in the third day of the three-day meet, hosted by Augustana University. The invite was held at Midco Aquatics Center.
Lily Wright led the Flames with two individual swims in the finals. Wright took ninth place in the 100-yard individual medley in 1:00.14 and then took sixth place in the 200 breaststroke in 2:23.56.
Also for the Flames, Kylee Brown and Mia Gauvin both advanced in the 100 freestyle. Brown placed 35th in 54.98 and Gauvin was 38th in 55.18. Hannah Ryan also qualified for the finals as she took 26th in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:36.14.
In relay action, CSM's 'A' relay of Hannah Steinmetz, Maeve Janssen, Gauvin and Brown placed 11th in the 400 freestyle relay, while the 'B' relay with Olivia Poole, Skylar Ned, Autumn Neale and Naomi Huttenga placed 17th in 4:15.46.
In the 1,650 freestyle (no prelims), Flames' Addison Miller took 23rd in 20:19.41.
CSM's times in the prelims were: Ryan 1:09.43 in the 100 individual medley; Juliet Balman 1:11.64 in the 100 individual medley; Jaidyn Vanschoiack 2:21.35 in the 200 backstroke; Steinmetz 2:23.06 in the 200 backstroke; Abby Hoss 2:27.77 in the 200 backstroke; Janssen 56.08 in the 100 freestyle; Steinmetz 59.29 in the 100 freestyle; Huttenga 59.81 in the 100 freestyle; Balman 59.83 in the 100 freestyle; Poole 1:02.43 in the 100 freestyle; Ned 1:03.44 in the 100 freestyle and Neale 1:08.67 in the 100 freestyle.
The Flames moved up a spot in team competition and took eighth place with a team score of 146.5. University of South Dakota won the meet with 1,319 points.
