Flames have strong showing at Augie Invite

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The College of Saint Mary swim team had another strong day of competition Friday at the Augie Invite.

Friday was the second day of the three-day meet hosted by Augustana University and held at Midco Aquatic Center.

The Flames qualified for the evening finals in three individual events. Lily Wright led the way with a third-place finish in the 'A' finals in the 100 breaststroke. Her time of 1:03.37 was also an NAIA national qualifying 'A' cut time. In the prelims she finished second with a time of 1:04.14.

Also in the 100 breaststroke, Kylee Brown made the 'C' finals and took 29th with a time of 1:09.73. She posted a time of 1:09.58 in the prelims. Brown also made the finals in the 200-yard freestyle and posted a time of 1:57.95 for 21st place. In the prelims she swam a time of 1:58.25.

CSM had two relays swim in the evening session in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of Jaidyn Vanschoiack, Wright, Hannah Ryan and Maeve Janssen took 21st in a time of 1:51.50, while the relay of
Skylar Ned, Abby Hoss, Juliet Balman and Addison Miller was 31st in 2:07.91.

Other CSM times in the prelims were: Ryan in the 100 butterfly 1:06.49; Naomi Huttenga in the 100 butterfly 1:07.69; Balman in the 100 butterfly 1:07.97; Janssen in the 200 freestyle 2:07.25; Miller in the 200 freestyle 2:08.40; Hannah Steinmetz in the 200 freestyle 2:08.86; Olivia Poole in the 200 freestyle 2:16.58; Ned in the 200 freestyle 2:17.32; Autumn Neale in the 200 freestyle 2:36.31; Hoss in the 100 breaststroke 1:15.00; Huttenga in the 100 breaststroke 1:17.90; Mia Gauvin in the 100 backstroke 1:01.89; Vanshoiack in the 100 backstroke 1:04.19; Steinmetz in the 100 backstroke 1:06.24; Hoss in the 100 backstroke 1:08.60. The 800 freestyle relay was also swum during the prelims session and the foursome of Ryan, Miller, Balman and Steinmetz placed 19th in 8:49.23.

In team competition the Flames are in ninth place with a score of 61.5. The University of South Dakota leads the pack with 932 points.
