CSM soccer gets another clean sheet

OMAHA, Neb. – There was only one goal – but that's all it took.

College of Saint Mary defeated Grand View University 1-0 Wednesday night in the nonconference contest. It was CSM's second clean sheet in as many games.

"The ladies challenged themselves to get a gritty win today and they absolutely executed that," CSM Coach Jordan Irsik said. "Grand View is a good team that is very organized and plays hard. Our team stepped up to the challenge."

Kylie Anderson (JR/Omaha, Neb.) scored the lone goal of the night at 24:01 with assists going to Abbie Anderson (SO/Omaha, Neb.) and Marissa Ring (FR/Neola, Iowa).

The Flames outshot Grand View 5-4 in the contest. Both teams switched keepers at halftime. Gabby Felker (JR/Omaha, Neb.) started in net for the Flames and got the win. She was relieved by Alivia Schade (SO/Kearney, Neb.) in the second half. For the Vikings, Gabby Burman played the opening half and suffered the loss. She was relieved by Trinity Engelhardt for the second 45 minutes.

"We created opportunities and took really good chances to make the game our own," Irsik said. "The backline and keepers really played well against some talented front players with a style we're not used to seeing.

"I'm excited for us to grow from here."

The Flames are now 2-0 on the season, while Grand View drops to 0-3. CSM plays again on Monday morning at 10 a.m. vs. Carroll College.
