Flames end fifth at Concordia golf meet
LINCOLN, Neb. – College of Saint Mary finished a solid fifth on Wednesday after the third and final round of the Concordia Spring Invite at Highlands Golf Course.
"Despite our best efforts, the wind got the best of us today and we slipped a spot,'' CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "All in all, I'm proud of my team's efforts over the last two days.''
Individually, Victoria Farkas finished up a stellar showing, shooting 83 on Wednesday for an 81-77-83—241, which was good for sixth overall among the 65 competitors.
Emily Faubel and Katie Freeman both ended tied for 18th. Faubel shot 88-84-84—256 and Freeman shot 81-88-87—256.
Sofia Chavez was tied for 29th with an 89-83-90—262, while Erika Headlee was 53rd after a 97-91-94—282.
Morningside University won the event with a team total of 968. Also in the top five were Doane University (984), Iowa Western Community College (992), Concordia University (1012) and CSM (1015). Following the Flames were Hastings College (1025), Briar Cliff University (1032), Northwestern College (1052), Mount Marty University (1094), the Doane 'B' team (1102) and Midland University (1110).
Olivia Holyoak-Church of Iowa Western was the individual medalist with a 79-76-78—233.
