Flames cruise to team title at Peru State

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – College of Saint Mary turned in another dominant day to claim the team title by 43 strokes at the Peru State Fall Invitational at Table Creek Golf Course.

The Flames 'A' team finished with a team score of 643, well ahead of runner-up Iowa Central Community College (686) and third-place Peru State (690). Rounding out the team scores were Doane University (693), the CSM 'B' team (717), Southeast Community College (760), the Peru State 'B' (783), the Doane 'B' (821) and Graceland University (857).

"It was another great day for the entire team,'' CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "Both the varsity and JV squads turned in solid scores. They were throwing darts on the greens, chipping in and sinking some long putts.''

Individually for the CSM 'A', freshman Sofia Chavez finished second with a 76-82—158, while Emily Faubel was third with an 80-79—159 and Victoria Farkas placed fourth with an 82-79—161. Katie Freeman shot an 84-81—165 and Erika Headlee shot an 87-84—171.

Joslyn Johnson of Peru State won medalist honors with a 79-76—155.

Here are the rest of the Flames' scores: Ritzy Dominguez 90-81—171; Frede Weiss 88-85—173; Anna Moore 92-90—182; Alana Vazquez 98-93—191; Samantha Norris 102-99—201; and Kylie Gardner 128-116—244.

"We need to keep up this momentum for the last couple of tournaments,'' Rodriguez said. "If we do, we'll have one of the strongest fall seasons in school history.''
