Flames finish sixth at Iowa Western invite
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – College of Saint Mary finished sixth on Tuesday as the two-day Iowa Western Spring Invite wrapped up at Bent Tree Golf Club.
The Flames nearly moved up a spot, shooting 335 on Tuesday for a two-day team total of 679, three strokes back of fifth-place Mount Marty University in the eight-team field.
"The team scored better today, improving by nine strokes,'' CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "I'm pleased with how they played and held it together. This was a great test run to prepare us for next week.''
Iowa Western Community College edged Doane University, 634-639, for team honors.
Individually for CSM, Emily Faubel finished eighth with a 78-81—159. Victoria Farkas placed 14th with an 83-81—164. Ritzy Dominguez tied for 28th, shooting 90-86—176. Katie Freeman was next in a tie for 32nd at 93-87—180. And Erika Headlee placed 37th with a 97-89—186.
Olivia Holyoak-Church of Iowa Western won medalist honors with a 71-75—146.
The Flames will return for the GPAC National Qualifier in Cairo, Neb., on Monday and Tuesday.
