Flames improve by 22, place 6th
LINCOLN, Neb. – College of Saint Mary improved its score by 22 strokes on Tuesday to finish in sole possession of sixth at the 14-team Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite at Wilderness Ridge Country Club.
CSM shot 331 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day score of 684, one stroke ahead of Northwestern College. Bellevue University edged Doane University 646-647 for the team title.
"I'm very proud of the team,'' CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "Everyone improved their scores from yesterday. We are gradually getting our scores lower and learning how to play under pressure to get us ready for the national qualifier at the end of the month. That's when I want the team to peak.''
Individually for CSM, Victoria Farkas scored 85-79—164 to finish in a tie for 13th. Emily Faubel shot 85-80—165 to finish 15th.
"Victoria and Emily had especially good rounds today,'' Rodriguez said.
Erika Headlee finished in a tie for 41st with a 91-86—177. Katie Freeman ended in a tie for 43rd with a 92-86—178. Anna Moore finished in a tie for 63rd with a 101-91—192.
CSM returns on Monday for the two-day Iowa Western Spring Invite in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
