Freeman cards personal-best 77 as Flames lead

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – Katie Freeman fired a career-best round of 77 to lead College of Saint Mary to a commanding 19-stroke lead after day one of the two-day Peru State College Fall Invitational at Table Creek Golf Course.

The CSM 'A' team finished the first day with a team total of 327, well ahead of second-place Barton Community College (346). Peru State ended the day third (381), followed by the CSM 'B' team (388) and Doane (410). The invitational will conclude on Saturday.

"We had a great day on the course,'' CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "Katie was on fire, and we continuously keep shooting lower as the season has progressed, which is exactly what I was expecting.''

Freeman, a sophomore from Haltom City, Texas, set the tone with her round. She was followed on the 'A' team by Victoria Farkas (81), Emily Faubel (83), Gabby Sinnett (86) and Erika Headlee (91).

The CSM 'B' team scorers were Ritzy Dominguez (95), Ana Wilson (97), Samantha Doughty (97), Anna Moore (99) and Alexa Piecko (109).

"We hope to keep the momentum up for tomorrow and come home with a tournament win!'' Rodriguez said.
