Flames finish third at Buena Vista Invite
STORM LAKE, Iowa – The College of Saint Mary golf team had another solid day Sunday – despite dropping a spot in the standings.
The Flames took third place in the Buena Vista Invite with a score of 330-342—672. The two-day event was held at Lake Creek Country Club.
"It was 30 degrees colder and much windier today," CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "It was a tight race between the top three teams and we fell a little short. But finishing third out of 11 teams is still something to be proud of."
Central College won the tournament with a 659 and Waldorf University passed the Flames to take second with 669. Other team scores were: Coe College 683; Buena Vista 686; Central 'B' 698; Augsburg University 708; Simpson College 709; Loras College 717; North Iowa Area Community College 725 and Nebraska Wesleyan University 745.
Amanda Karvala from Waldorf was the medalist with a 75-80—155.

"Katie shot her collegiate best with an 81 and Erika had another great day as a Top 5 player," Rodriguez said. "This showed us our potential and what we should be scoring for a stronger finish in the GPAC."
The Flames are off until Oct. 4-5 when they play in the Peru State College Fall Invitational at Table Creek Golf Course in Nebraska City, Neb.
