Flames sitting in 7th at the Mount Marty Fall Invite

YANKTON, S.D. – It was a long day for the College of Saint Mary golf team Thursday. Mother Nature wasn't very cooperative with the teams playing in the two-day Mount Marty University Fall Invite.

Thursday's competition was held at Fox Run Golf Course.

"We got through three holes before a two and a half hour rain delay," CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "It made for a long day which can definitely affect performances. Given the circumstances, I'm pretty happy with the way the team played."

The Flames are currently tied for seventh place with a team score of 340.

Bellevue University holds the lead with a team score of 305, while Doane University 'A' sits in second with 309. Other teams scores after the opening day were: Morningside University 310, Briar Cliff University 330, Mount Marty University 333, Dordt University 333, Doane 'B' 340, Concordia University 'A' 341, Northwestern College 'A' 346, Hastings College 351, Northwestern College 'B' 369 and Concordia University 'B' 389.

Ilysia Ibnu from Bellevue is currently atop the leaderboard with an even-par round of 72.

Victoria Farkas had CSM's best round of the day with an 81 that has her sitting in 21st place individually.

"As a freshman, Victoria stepped up and kept her head in the game," Rodriguez said. "She played well."

Emily Faubel shot an 84 for the Flames and is currently in 29th place. Teammate Gabby Sinnett finished with an 87, Katie Freeman shot an 88 and Ritzy Dominguez carded a 91.

The tournament continues Friday with play being held at Hillcrest Country Club.
