Faubel brings home medalist honors to lead CSM golf to second-place finish

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – Emily Faubel was the individual medalist to lead the College of Saint Mary golf team to a second-place finish at the Peru State Fall Invite.

Faubel shot an 88-76—164 to bring home the top honors. Des Moines Area Community College won the team competition with a 692, while the Flames finished with 695 in the five-team field.

"I'm very proud of how my team rallied today," CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "Everyone improved their scores from yesterday.

"Emily won the tournament outright by shooting her collegiate PR today with a 76."

Ritzy Dominguez finished with a 96-80—176; Alexa Piecko had an 89-88—177; Gabby Sinnett carded a 90-88—178 and Katie Freeman shot 102-99—201.

"It was great to see Ritzy, Lexi and Gabby medal in the Top 10 too," Rodriguez said.

The tournament was CSM's last fall event as the Flames now shift their focus to the spring season.

"This was exactly the type of momentum we needed before taking some time off to recover before hitting the ground running next spring," Rodriguez said. "We've seen our competition and we know what needs to be done for tournament wins. Each player knows what they need to work on in the off-season. We appreciate everyone who supported our team this fall."
