CSM golfers sitting in second place at Peru State Fall Invite
NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – It was a tough day for golf.
The Flames battled cold temperatures and strong winds at the Peru State Fall Invite Friday. The two-day tournament is being held at Table Creek Golf Course.
College of Saint Mary is sitting in second place in team competition with a 363.
Des Moines Area Community College leads the way with 349. Behind the Flames are North Central Community College (Mo.) with 381, Peru State 'A' with 383 and Peru State 'B' with 452. Doane University has golfers playing in the event but not enough to qualify for team competition.
Emily Faubel led the Flames with an 88 Friday. Teammate Alexa Piecko had an 89, Gabby Sinnett shot a 90, Ritzy Dominguez carded a 96 and Katie Freeman finished with a 102.
"It's definitely not the scores we were hoping for, but we did our best battling in 40 mph winds and cold conditions," CSM Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "Everyone kept it together mentally and we are looking forward to nice weather and a chance to improve tomorrow. The goal is to tweak a few strategies on some holes and not play so timid."
