Flames currently in second place at Peru State Spring Invite
NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – It was a tough day for golf.
"We had to battle 48 degree temps and 40 mph wind gusts today," CSM Golf Coach Keri Rodriguez said. "That being said – the ladies kept their heads up and fought until the end."
The Flames are currently in second place at the Peru State Spring Invite. CSM shot a team score of 358 at Table Creek Golf Course.
Mount Marty University leads the way with a team score of 350, while Peru State is in third with 410. The two-day tournament continues Saturday.
Kelsey Heath from Mount Marty sits on top of the leaderboard with an 81.
CSM's Emily Faubel is currently in second place individually with an 84. Teammate Torrance Loudner is tied for fourth with an 88 and Gabby Sinnett is in sixth with a 92. Also for the Flames, Anna Moore is tied for seventh with 94 and Alexa Piecko is tied for 10th with 94.
Playing as individuals, Avery Campbell shot a 94 and is tied for seventh, Erynn Milan finished with a 97 and is tied for 10th and Samantha Doughty shot a 105.
"I'm especially proud of Avery for shooting her collegiate low of 94," Rodriguez said. "And for Erynn for shooting her PR of 97. It's the first time she broke 100 and being a senior and hitting that milestone means a lot.
"We're back at it tomorrow. I know our top five can play better. Playing smart golf and trusting themselves on the course will help them get there."
