CSM bowlers sitting in fourth place after great day

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The College of Saint Mary bowling team had a great day at the MIBC #3 tournament Saturday and ended with a fourth-place finish. The Flames have put themselves in a strong position heading into the championships on Sunday.

"The ladies came out bowling strong today during the three team games," CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "We bowled our two highest series of the season so far with a 935 and 892 and then followed that with an 817."

The three solid games gave the Flames 2,644 total pins and had the team sitting in fifth place.

Madison Barnes (216), Hannah O'Neal (210) and Abigail Rosloniec (210) all rolled individual games over 200. Barnes led the way for CSM with 589 total pins and seventh place individually over the three games. Rosloniec finished with 574 for 11th place and O'Neal had 563 for 15th.

Lauren Funk from Wartburg College led the field with a score of 624.

"Going into Bakers we were sitting in fifth place knowing we had some pins to make up," Johnson said. "We fired off a 216 in the fourth game giving us a 738 block that bumped us up for fourth. We maintained that to finish out the day."

CSM's Baker games were 169, 176, 177, 216, 155, 182, 173, 150, 168, 161, 141 and 192. The 2,060 Baker score plus the 2,644 team games gave the Flames 4,704 total pins for the day.

"I was very pleased with how we bowled today and excited about the fourth-place finish," Johnson said. "We hope to take that excitement and momentum into tomorrow as we bowl the championship Baker brackets."

Sunday's competition will be three sets of Best of 5 Bakers bracket play to determine the conference champion.
