Season-high Baker game helps CSM take 22nd

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Going out with a bang!

The College of Saint Mary bowling team had a great day Sunday at the Collegiate Shoot-Out in Las Vegas. The Flames wrapped up their fourth straight day of competition by rolling a season-high 236 Baker game in their final set.

The Flames took 22nd place out of 41 teams at the prestigious Tier 1 event.

"I'm very pleased with how we bowled," CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "We beat some big programs too."

College of Saint Mary finished with a total pin count of 7,047.

CSM was sitting in 26th place after the opening day Saturday with 4,186 pins in the five games. Then the squad had Baker games of 159, 161, 223, 171, 180, 186, 215, 157, 152, 222, 170, 149, 174, 236, 171 and 135.

Johnson was especially proud of the 236 Baker game in the 14th round of 16.

The two tournaments in Las Vegas also put the finishing touches on the collegiate bowling career of Jennica Soar, who has completed her eligibility with the Flames.

"This was Jennica's last tournament of her college career," Johnson said. "She has been one of the team captains for the past two seasons. She will be missed on the lanes as well as part of the team dynamic.

"We wish her all the best in her future endeavors."

The Flames return to competition Jan. 24 with the MIBC #3 tournament.
