Flames bowlers place 10th

WATERLOO, Iowa – The College of Saint Mary bowling team placed 10th of the 13 teams entered in the Cedar Valley Invite on Saturday.

The event was a head-to-head format, where each school was randomly paired with another, and the Flames went 1-5 on the day. Coe College as the lone school with a 6-0 mark.

"I was extremely happy with how well they all bowled Saturday,'' CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "Our 10th-place finish by no means reflects how well we bowled. We faced talented teams that just bowled higher scores to win the point.''

CSM finished the event with 4,066 pins. In the individual games, Kaitlyn Dickmeyer led the way for the Flames with a 173.7 average over three games. Jennica Soar was next with a 166.0, followed by Hannah O'Neal (164.3), Leilani Param (154.3) and Amariyah Moreno (114.7).

Johnson was pleased with her team's performance.

"It was our last regular-season tournament, and they had fun and bowled their best,'' she said. "We are excited to have the upcoming weekend off and look forward to finishing the season with our conference tournament.''

The KCAC Championships will be Feb. 22 in Sioux City, Iowa.
