CSM bowlers take sixth at MIBC Championships
WATERLOO, Iowa – College of Saint Mary took sixth place in the Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference Championships Sunday.
After three separate MIBC events, the Flames entered championship Sunday as the fifth seed out of nine teams.
"We won our first bracket against Iowa State to advance to the second set of brackets," CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "Then we faced Iowa Central. They are a great team and we stayed up with them through the second and third game, but just didn't have enough pins to win.
"Our third set of brackets we bowled against Iowa Western Community College for fifth and sixth place. Again, our ladies bowled well, but we had some bad breaks and we came up just short to finish sixth."
Coe College won the event with Waldorf University placing second and Wartburg College taking third.
"We bowled good today," Johnson said. "The weekend as a whole was upbeat with positive attitudes. The highlight was bringing home an all-tournament team medal for Jennica (Soar)."
Soar led the Flames Saturday as she bowled scores of 169, 204 and 222 for a total of 595 to take fifth place individually and earn her the all-tournament team honors.
The Flames are back in Waterloo, Iowa, on Saturday to compete in the Cedar Valley Invite.
