CSM bowlers sitting in 12th place at Eagle Invitational
BELTON, Mo. – The College of Saint Mary bowling team was back on the lanes Saturday after a long holiday break. The Flames competed in the opening day of the Eagle Invitational.
The two-day event is being hosted by Avila University and is being held at Aaron's Family Fun Center.
College of Saint Mary sits in 12th place with a team score of 3,107 pins. The Flames are just three pins out of 11th place – currently held by Barton Community College
McPherson College leads the way with 4,357 total pins, while Columbia College sits in second with 4,292.
CSM's five game scores were 577, 654, 610, 672 and 594.
"The pins were not our friends today on the lanes," CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "We struggled all day with bad pin reaction and lots of missed spares. The team battled to stay in 11th place but came up just short by three pins at the end of the day."
The Flames had last competed on Dec. 7-8 before the end of the first semester. Johnson said her squad has been working to shake off the rust of the holiday break.
"I know it was a disappointing day for the ladies on the lanes, but I am proud of how hard they all worked. They were communicating with each other on how the lanes were playing and were making changes. They kept the energy up and the attitudes were positive all day."
