Flames take 8th at Bronco Open
HASTINGS, Neb. – The Flames held on to eighth place at the Bronco Open Sunday.
After knocking down 4,021 pins in the team games on Saturday, College of Saint Mary added another 2,445 pins during the 16 Baker games Sunday for a two-day total of 6,466.
"We bowled consistent today," CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "We didn't bowl any games that would put us up higher in the standings, but we held on to eighth place coming from Saturday."
The Flames Baker game scores were 149, 185, 151, 159, 171, 145, 176, 157, 139, 116, 152, 140, 160, 166, 123 and 156.
"I was able to let the bowlers who didn't bowl on Saturday bowl today to gain more tournament experience," Johnson said. "Overall, I was pleased with how well the team worked together and bowled this weekend."
Hastings College had the top pin total of 7,639 in the squad's home tournament. Ottawa University compiled 7,612 for second place and Morningside University took third with 7,420. Other team scores were Peru State College 7,275; McPherson College 7,256; Midland University 7,128; Kansas Wesleyan University 6,776; Barton Community College 6,440; Kansas State University 6,317 and Iowa Western Community College 5,828.
The Flames return to action Saturday at the Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, Ill.
"We have some things to work on in practice this upcoming week to prepare us for the Leatherneck Tournament next weekend," Johnson said.
