CSM basketball signs student-athlete from Hawaii
OMAHA, Neb. – Kylee Kamauoha-Phillips will be traveling quite a ways away from home next fall when she heads to College of Saint Mary.
The Honolulu, Hawaii, native recently signed her letter of intent to continue her education and basketball career at CSM next year.
Kamauoha-Phillips is the daughter of Kamron Kamauoha and Clydette Self. The 5-2 point guard is currently a senior at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama. She's played basketball for four years and also participated in track & field for two years of high school.
Outside of basketball, Kamauoha-Phillips enjoys going to the beach, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She says Kyrie Irving is her favorite sports hero and she plans to study kinesiology at College of Saint Mary.
"CSM is the college of my choice because of the great kinesiology program they offer, as well as the coaching staff and players on the basketball team," she said. "Everybody was very informative and welcoming on my visit to CSM."
Coach Kirk Walker is thrilled to add Kamauoha-Phillips to the Flames' squad next year.
"We are excited to add Kylee to our team," Walker said. "She has an infectious positive attitude, a great work ethic and is a high energy player. Her ability to play with great pace and explosiveness with the ball in her hands will help us continue to improve our transition game.
"Kylee is a true point guard who can get us into our offense, get to the paint and also understand how to get the ball to her teammates in a timely manner in a position to score. Defensively, she can be a disrupter with her quickness and ability to guard the ball. We look forward to having her here in the fall and are excited to welcome her to the CSM community."
