CSM Dance Team kicks off season with strong performance

CRETE, Neb. – The College of Saint Mary dance team kicked off the 2023-2024 season Wednesday with a dual meet against Doane University.

The Tigers won 83.65 to 50.80. The competition was held after CSM's basketball game vs. Doane.

The Flames earned scores of 4.6/4.9 in jazz, 4.6/4.8 in pom and 5.6/5.0 in hip hop. In the team turn sequence CSM scored 4.7/4.2.

"Overall, it was a great first entry into the competition season," CSM Coach April Allen said. "Our goal was to score a 50 and we got a 50.8 so it was a solid start."

"I'm so proud of our first performance," CSM senior Beth Weatherly said. "As a team we have been working really hard and it was amazing to showcase our routine for the first time."

The College of Saint Mary dance team returns to action Saturday with a triangular at Concordia University vs. the Bulldogs and Hastings College.

"We're going to work on the skills the judges gave us feedback on and hopefully gain some points in Saturday's competition," Allen said.
